Classroom Polling FAQ
Do students need to create accounts?
No. Students just scan the QR code with their phone camera and respond immediately. No app downloads, no sign-ups, no passwords. This removes the biggest barrier to participation—you can start polling in the first 30 seconds of class.
How do I prevent multiple responses from the same student?
QR Poll uses browser fingerprinting to limit one response per device. It's not foolproof (determined students can work around it), but it prevents casual duplicate voting. For high-stakes assessments, you'd want a proper LMS quiz instead.
Can I use this for graded quizzes?
QR Poll is designed for formative assessment—checking understanding, sparking discussion, gathering opinions. For summative/graded assessments, you need identity verification and academic integrity features. Use your LMS for those. Use QR Poll for the quick, informal check-ins.
Is it free for teachers?
Yes, the free plan works great for classrooms. You get 250 responses per month, real-time results, and CSV export. Pro at $15/month gives you 10,000 responses, custom branding, advanced analytics, and priority support.
What if students don't have smartphones?
Have students pair up—one phone can submit for a pair during discussions. You can also display the poll link on screen so students can type it in on laptops or tablets. The URL is short and easy to type.
Can I see who responded what?
By default, responses are anonymous—this encourages honest participation without fear of judgment. If you need to track individual responses (like attendance checks), you can add an optional name/ID field, but we recommend keeping most polls anonymous for better engagement.
